The North Ayrshire Tartan Army has announced plans to hold a quiz night for charity.

The fun event will take place in Irvine's 8 Ball Pool Club on Saturday, September 2 at 7.30pm.

All funds raised will go to the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal.

Entry is £5 per person or £15 per team of four. There will be raffle prizes on the night too.

The Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal was set up to help disadvantaged and chronically ill children in every country Scotland football fans travel to.

Every country visited by the Tartan Army benefits, with a local charity being identified and a presentation made by footsoldiers on or around the day of the game.

Donations come in the form of money and, in some particularly needy cases, goods such as clothes, toiletries, games, toys or sweets - all kindly donated by members of the Tartan Army prior to the trip.

A spokesperson for the North Ayrshire branch said: "A bunch of Scottish football fans, all kilted up, going in to make a presentation can make quite an impact for the children and, indeed, for the hard-worked staff too.

"They really appreciate the personal touch of tartan bedecked fans entertaining them - and a blast on the 'doodlesac' from the piper goes down a treat too."
