ORGANISERS of the Marymass Festival have confirmed the youngsters who will make up this years royal party.

The teens will play a vital role across the festival celebrations as Irvine prepares for some of the biggest days on the local events calendar.

This year's Marymass Queen has been confirmed as Rebecca Orr - who will be officially crowned on Marymass Saturday on August 26.

Joining Rebecca as Marys this year will be Emily Muir, Hollie Surgenor, Summer Henderson and Freya Fitzsimmons.

The royal party was confirmed on social media yesterday by the event organisers with the girls pictured at Irvine's Low Green.

There were plenty of well wishes and congratulations in order, as the girls prepare to make memories which will last a lifetime.

While there is set to be a stand-off to decide this years Marymass captaincy.

Two men are in the running for 2023's edition of the event - last year's captain Gordon Storrar and former jockey Gregor Smith.

The captaincy will be decided by a vote which will take place on the evening of the opening ceremony on Thursday, August 17.

The announcement of who has won will be made at Irvine Townhouse at around 9pm in the evening.
