THERE is set to be fun for all the family in Dreghorn this weekend.

It comes as the community fire station on Corsehill Mount Road is set to hold its family open day from 11am until 3pm this Saturday, August 5.

There will be something for everyone, with plenty of entertainment planned for the day.

Inferno Entertainment will be playing the tunes throughout the event, which is being held to raise funds for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Family Support Trust.

There will also be plenty of emergency vehicles to have a look at - with police, fire and ambulance services all coming along. The fire service are even sending over a vintage engine, to show what the job was like in years gone by.

Attendees will also have a chance to meet the crews of the local fire station - and later have a chance to 'soak the firefighter'.

And if you have ever fancied yourself as a potential firefighter - you will have the chance to take on the firefighter fitness test challenge.

If you fancy a different sort of fitness challenge, Irvine's Bouncestation will be running a laser combar course at the event.

There will also be some more convential games to play, with a beat the goalie planned and a number of stalls - including a face painting station - due to be set up at the Dreghorn fire station.

There will also be a food court for those hoping to get a bite to eat, and a raffle where lots of great prizes can be won.

The event itself is free to attend, and parking is also provided free of charge at Greenwood Academy across the road from the station.
