Irvine Times: Kilwinning's young artists

A group of around 20 would-be artists from a Kilwinning centre completed an inspired set of paintings which they had been working on throughout the summer holidays. Parents and children from North Ayrshire Council’s Family Support Unit used their artistic skills to produce four panels which when put together, form a colourful seaside scene inspired by Arran.

Segdoune Queen Karly Grimes and attendants Nicola Miller, Linda Adams and Rachael Stirling turned out to support Kilwinning Sports Club’s fun day.

Irvine Times: Peter Gilchrist, John Clarkson and Gordon Robertson cycled 500 miles

Irvine men Peter Gilchrist, John Clarkson and Gordon Robertson cycled 500 miles across Scotland in aid of leukaemia research. The trio spent 10 days cycling from the Mull of Galloway to Cape Wrath to raise money for a planned leukaemia research centre at Gartnavel Hospital.

Irvine Times: MP Brian Donohoe and the Maritime Volunteer Service

A Taster session held by the Maritime Volunteer Service was praised by MP Brian Donohoe. The MP dropped in at a ‘Come and Try’ day held at Irvine Harbour at the weekend. The Maritime Volunteer Service trains people from age 18 to 65 about the sea, both on shore and on the water. Mr Donohoe said: “It was a really fantastic day.”

Irvine Times: SCOUTS from Bourtreehill were celebrating after winning a camping tournament

SCOUTS from Bourtreehill were celebrating after winning a camping tournament. The troupe, from the 73rd Ayrshire Scouts, were judged on their tent pitching, uniforms, cooking and safety skills. They saw off six other teams from throughout Ayrshire to lift the trophy - but were defeated at the national finals in Fife.
