Sainsbury's store in Stewarton has closed down for 10 days for a major upgrade.

The supermarket closed on Saturday for the revamp and will remain closed until Tuesday, August 15.

The upgrade will see a new hot food counter, energy efficient refrigeration equipment installed, a redesign of the fresh produce section, new signs, a reorganisation of the layout and new signs and fixtures installed in the store

A spokesperson for Sainsbury's told the Times: “We’re constantly investing in our store estate to ensure we provide the best offer we can to the communities we serve and it’s great to be able to do this whilst also making improvements to reduce the amount of energy used instore.

“We hope our customers in Stewarton, Ayrshire will enjoy the finished result and we’d like to thank them for their support and patience while we made these upgrades to the store.”

The upgrades to the store, which included installing brand new refrigeration equipment throughout, are also designed to make it much more energy efficient as part of Sainsbury’s wider sustainability plans and ambitions, known as its Plan for Better.

Sainsbury’s has made similar investments in many of its stores over the last few years.

Other upgraded features that customers will find within the store include:

Transformation of Sainsbury’s distinctive fresh produce offer, which has been redesigned to put it front and centre in the store for customers.

A new hot food counter offering tasty, affordable cooked food to go.

Reorganisation of the layout of some parts of the store to make better use of the space, enabling the range of products on sale to be increased.

New signage and fixtures across all departments to help refresh their look and feel.

We're sure everyone is looking forward to seeing the new look when Sainsbury's reopens next week.
