A SPRINGSIDE man has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after hurling homophobic remarks at police in the village.

Keiran Guy, 31, struggled with officers during the incident on Main Road on March 17 of this year.

Guy, of Craig View in the village, was at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday, August 16, where he was sentenced after pleading guilty to one charge relating to the incident.

He admitted to acting in a threatening or abusive manner which court papers say was likely to cause fear or alarm.

He was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work within six months.
