Irvine Times: Golf

Talented Greenwood Academy pupil Stuart Easton enjoyed the biggest experience of his golfing career when he played with living legend Tom Watson at Gleneagles. And he ended up out-hitting the five-time Open champion. The 17-year-old, who was recently capped for his country, took part in the unique challenge match as part of his involvement in the Scottish Golf Development Centre.


Irvine Times: Walker

Irvine man William Galloway raised money for a local youngster and Irvine British Legion after Walking the West Highland Way. He gave £600 to help modernise the Legion’s building and another £600 to a Cerebral Palsy charity, in recognition of their help to four-year-old boy, Harris Reid.

THE sun was out for the Eglington Growers allotments official open day in 2013. North Ayrshire Provost Joan Sturgeon is pictured with some of the prizewinners.

Irvine Times: IBFM

BOSSES at Irvine Beat FM were celebrating after winning lottery funding. A £50,000 grant for the community radio station would create a full time post of training manager and a part time post of production trainer.

Irvine Times: Mudder

TWO Irvine lads were preparing to battle one of the toughest assault courses in the world. Kieran Long and Thomas Mullen were in training for the north west Tough Mudder at Cholmondeley Estates in Malpas, Cheshire.

Irvine Royal Academy were working in partnership with the town’s rugby club in 2013. Pupils were taking part in regular sessions and brushing up on their skills.
