North Ayrshire Provost Anthea Dickson enjoyed a busy October from attending a 100th birthday celebration to an emergency services awards ceremony.

Provost Dickson and Depute Provost John Sweeney attended commitments which took them into communities from Largs to Kilmarnock.

Provost Dickson said: “It is always a real honour to attend community events and being out and about meeting people in our wonderful and varied communities.

“In my role as Provost I meet some very interesting people, and I am lucky enough to receive a warm welcome in people’s homes and workplaces across the area.

“My calendar of events is always crammed full of events in our towns and villages – and October was no exception.

"I would like to thank everyone I met during the month, from lovely Robina Sampson who was marking her milestone 100th birthday to the talented young pipers at St Matthew’s Academy.”

October 1 - A celebration concert at Barrmill Jolly Beggars Burns Club, Beith. 

October 8 - Kirking of the Deacon Convener of Irvine Incorporated Trades at Irvine Old Parish Church. 

October 11 - Auchenharvie Academy, Stevenston, Celebrating Success Ceremony. 

October 13 – Provost Dickson supported Ayrshire Hospice’s annual Go Purple fundraising campaign. 

October 21 – Mrs Robina Simpson celebrated the centenary of her birth with family friends and neighbours in Kilbirnie – and Provost Dickson was delighted to pop along to congratulate her.

October 21 - Festival of Juvenile Piping, St Matthew’s Academy, Saltcoats. Prizes were presented by Provost Dickson. 

October 26 – Provost Dickson enjoyed some art in Saltcoats at the Heritage Centre where a preview of an exhibition called “New and Unusual (And a few of our favourite things)” was on. 

October 26 - The Ayrshire Tri-Services Awards organisers welcomed Provost Dickson to Kilmarnock to enjoy a colleague recognition event involving Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service.

October 27 – Provost Dickson attended the 40th Annual General Meeting of the Scottish Maritime Museum Trust in Irvine. 

October 27 - Lord Lieutenant Iona McDonald and Provost Dickson launched three skills projects at Largs Campus. 

October 27 – Organisers of the 377th Annual Celebration (Big Pie) Irvine Incorporated Trades Annual Dinner welcome Provost Dickson.
