AN IRVINE man is being held behind bars after being arrested in connection with a "disturbance".

John Worthington appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court today, Friday, November 3, to face charges in relation to the incident on the town's Dick Crescent last month.

Police were called to the area late on Tuesday, October 24, evening following reports of an alleged disturbance.

Mr Worthington, 45, was later arrested and charged in connection with this.

As he appeared at the Ayrshire courthouse to face charges for the first time, Mr Worthington made no plea in relation to these.

One charge alleges that he was in possession of a bladed or pointed article in the public place during this time.

While a further two charges relate to alleged threatening or abusive behaviour by the accused Mr Worthington.

Following his appearance Mr Worthington, whose general address is listed as being in Irvine, was committed for further examination.

He has been remanded in custody until he makes his next court appearance later this year.
