A prisoner suffered serious injuries after the contents of a kettle were thrown at him inside Bowhouse.

James Campbell admitted the serious assault after scalding another convict Scott Marshall inside HMP Kilmarnock.

The 59-year-old admitted throwing the contents of a boiled kettle over the victim during the incident on May 18 this year.

Campbell, who’s address was listed as HMP Barlinnie on the Crown’s indictment, pleaded guilty to the assault to the man's severe injury.

The accused, who appeared represented by defence solicitor Colin McLaughlin, received a year-long custodial sentence, which was backdated to July 21.
