AN IRVINE shop is sparing no expense in a bid to create magical Christmas memories for the local community.

The team from the Bourtreehill Supermarket say they have spent thousands of pounds into organising a free to attend festive family event at the store.

Their festive event will take place from 3-7pm on Saturday, December 23, with plenty on offer to provide fun for all the family.

For owner Imran Ali, it is all about giving back to the community who allow the shop to thrive throughout the year.

He is hoping that by putting "thousands of pounds" into the event, the shop will "create a unique day/experience for the local community".

The store's community spirit was recently recognised with a prize at the UIK Asian Traders Awards.

Real reindeer will be at the store from 4pm on the big day, stocking up on their essentials before setting off around the world delivering presents - and there will be an owl there too.

Alpacas from Hannahston will be heading along at 5pm, and a local DJ will play live in the store.

There will be face painting, henna designs and crafters present - and Santa Claus will be coming to town too to give out treats to children who have been nice this year.

Santa's sleigh, made by the local Men's Shed, will be present for families to try out, with hot food and drink inside the shop - while the store's indoor soft play will be open too.

Donation buckets will be provided throughout, with any money raised being shared between Children First Bourtreehill and the local Men's Shed.
