This week, we're taking a look back at the best photos in the Irvine Times issue dated January 7, 2009.

While it might have been a brand new year, the newspaper was still full of festive photos.

Who do you recognise in these pictures taken in Irvine and Kilwinning 15 years ago?

Irvine Times: Student

An Irvine student was left astonished in early 2009 when his online bank statement declared he was almost £100billion overdrawn. Donald Moffat’s Barclays account showed two separate withdrawals of £50bn in one morning, of which the 38-year-old had no knowledge. Barclays were quick to play down the incident and blamed a “technical error” for the fault. Donald said: “I was physically sick with the stress of this, it was affecting my wife and kids – I think it’s ridiculous.”
