Irvine Times: Folk

Irvine Folk Club said an emotional goodbye to the Redburn Hotel as they moved home after 15 years in the venue. Major redevelopment work at the Redburn would have made it impossible to carry on being based there. The club had now set up home in the town’s Golf Hotel.

Irvine Times: SFA

The super-fit team at the SFA headed to Irvine’s Magnum to continue their excellent session of football courses for local youngsters.

Irvine Times: card

Lawthorn Primary pupil Alana Crawford shows off her winning Christmas Card design. The primary three pupil's festive creation was named the best of the bunch in a contest to design Irvine Housing Association’s official Christmas card. Proud mum Gillian was on hand when the youngster was presented with a printed copy of her winning card by IHA deputy chairman Tom Coyler and chairman Brigadier Tony Rickets.

Irvine Times: gym

Fitness fanatic Omar Monir took working out to new heights when he spent 24 hours in the gym to raise money for people with Cerebral Palsy. Kilwinning man Omar was one of six members at the MRC gym in Dalry who pushed themselves through the pain barrier to try and rustle up money for Cerebra - the Foundation for the Brain Injured Infants and Children. They raised £4,000 in the process.

Irvine Times: Fencedyke

Delighted pupils at Fencedkye Primary in Irvine landed great prizes in a fundraiser. The raffle, held at a PTA bingo night, was to raise money for the school's 25th anniversary year of 2004 with top prizes of a hi-fi, TV and DVD player. A massive £500 was raised. Irvine Times: Irvine sub Aqua Club hold a barbecue... in January. See below.

Divers at Irvine Sub Aqua Club braved the January cold to hold an outdoor BARBECUE. The hardy group sheltered under a gazebo to cook up some warming food to raise money for the club and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute. Club member Frank Long revealed they managed to raise more than £200. He said: "It was absolutely freezing but we’re hardened divers!"
