AN AYRSHIRE vet is making the brave journey to Ukraine to provide essential care to pets in need.

Catherine Ness, who works for Vets4Pets, will travel to the war-torn country on April 7 for two weeks to work alongside Worldwide Vets.

Catherine has housed a Ukrainian refugee in her home for the past year, and will travel to the country to provide services including the neutering of stray animals.

Vets4Pets, which has practices in Ayr, Kilmarnock and Irvine, has wished their employee well ahead of her journey.

A spokesperson said: "Catherine will be dedicating her time and expertise to provide essential medical care, including neutering services to stray animals affected by the war in Ukraine.

"She will also be extending her care and support to pet owners, offering guidance and assistance to those during this challenging time.

"Her compassionate approach extends not only to the animals but also to the caring individuals who love them.

"Catherine’s commitment to this cause is truly inspiring and something that is extremely close to her heart.

"For a year now, Catherine has had a Ukrainian refugee staying with them, who they feel is now a part of their family. We couldn’t be prouder to support her in this endeavour."
