Irvine kids can get their hands on police riot gear and have a chance to win some sweet treats when a special seasonal extravaganza is staged during the Easter holidays.

To help take the pressure off parents, Irvine Community Council have teamed up with North Ayrshire Council, KA Leisure, the Rivergate Centre, Coastwatch, Police Scotland plus a host of other community groups to provide an afternoon of free family fun in the Bridgegate.

The family fun day is being held on Saturday, April 13, at 12 noon.

People are invited to join organisers outside the Rivergate Centre to take part in pop up football, soft play and live CPR demonstrations.

People attending can get their hands on some police riot gear,  try out some fun STEM (science technology, engineering and mathematics)  activities, or take part in a fun Easter-themed scavenger hunt around the area in search of some treats.

The event is completely free to attend and is bound to be a great way to cap off the Easter holidays and perhaps give some tired parents a break for a couple of hours.
