Irvine's Jenna Ross is set to fight for the Muay Thai WBC World Championship next month.

Currently ranked UK number one - and sixth in the World WBC rankings - she will face Ilenia Perugini from Switzerland for the Muay Thai Female Flyweight World Title at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley on May 11.

It's a dream come true for Jenna, who is also the 'Patron for Women' at the Ardrossan-based charity Scottish Centre for Personal Safety.

The event is run by Power of Scotland, Scotland's biggest and most established fight event and Jenna's fight is the main event in what has been billed as POS35 - Power of Scotland's 35th event.

Jenna said: "Fighting for a World title has been something I have envisioned since I started fighting 10 years ago and it gives me huge amounts of gratitude that it is now finally happening.

"Since the match-up, I have been pinching myself every day because I truly can’t believe it is happening.

"But I deserve to be where I am now, I have fought some of the best names in the UK and Europe and now I get to keep proving why I am the best at my weight.

"My final career aspiration is to go down as one of the best female fighters to ever do it. I am very much overwhelmed with excitement for my next fight and hope to see everyone there."
