Police are appealing for information after a 74-year-old man died after coming off his pedal bike in Kilmarnock.

The man was found injured beside his bike on MacDonald Drive, at the junction with Milton Drive, around 10.30am on Friday, April 19.

He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital, but died later that day.

However, police didn't receive a report of what had happened until three days later.

Sergeant Brian Simpson of Police Scotland's Irvine road policing unit, said: “We received a report of this on Monday, April 22, and we are carrying out enquiries to establish how the 74-year-old man came about his injuries.

“We are working to gather information that will assist us in establishing the circumstances and I would urge anyone who was in the area of Milton Drive on Friday morning to please contact us as soon as possible.

“I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cam to check their footage for anything that may assist our ongoing enquiries.”
