A fissure has developed on the A78 at a bus stop in Seamill which has been reported to roads authority Amey.

The matter was first noticed yesterday evening in a popular route which is also used by cyclists and showed a gap emerging in the road which could be a major fall hazard.

North Coast Conservative councillor Todd Ferguson alerted Amey to the issue.

He said: "There have been a few appearing along the section recently. One was fixed a wee bit further up. I'll pass it on to Amey as an urgent matter."

Amey have since responded to Cllr Ferguson and say they will be sending out operatives to check the road this morning.

The trunk road at Seamill has already been subject to heavy roadworks with the ongoing drainage works at The Waterside continuing until May 3.
