TWO KILWINNING Scouts who attained top awards within the movement were celebrating at Windsor Castle last week.
Youngster Katie Roy was invited to the event following her achievement in earning the King Scout Award - the top achievement for Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members.
In doing so, she became the first member of the Kilwinning troop to earn the top honour.
She was also the only Scout from the south west of Scotland to attend the event.
The day of celebration honours both the young people who achieved the top award as well as the amazing adult volunteers who support them.
That's why Katie was joined at the event by Kilwinning group leader Alister Kerr, who last year was presented with the Silver Wolf Award to honour his "lifetime commitment to active Scouting".
Alister has dedicated a remarkable 55 years to the group, which was acknowledged by the award, handed out for "service of a most exceptional nature".
The pair had a really special day, with Katie parading in front of the Chief Scout, well known TV adventurer Bear Grylls.
A Kilwinning Scouts spokesperson said: "It was wonderful day to celebrate the Scouting achievement of Katie and huge commitment to Kilwinning Scouts of Alister."
