Irvine residents take on the Glasgow Kiltwalk for charity

Thousands take on the challenge each year, all with one common goal - to raise as much funds as possible for charity.

Comprising three different length walks - The Mighty Stride (23 miles), The Big Stroll (14 miles) and The Wee Wander (3 miles) - the event is one of the biggest in the Scottish charity calendar.

We at the Times asked our readers to share their pictures from the big day, and it's fair to say you didn't disappoint.

Here is Sarena Fairbairn with auntie Carol Fairbairn. The pair took on The Mighty Stride for the SSPCA and Alzheimer's Scotland respectively.

 Patricia Gerrard shared this great snap of some of the team who took on the Kiltwalk for Calums Cabin.

Laureen Arnold and friends also took on the 23-mile trek, doing so to raise funds for the Brightest Star charity.

Audrey Campbell shared this brilliant shot after completing The Mighty Stride for The Kris Boyd Charity.

Nessie Carly and friends also took to the city streets, completing the Kiltwalk for Cornerstone - Ayrshire.

Aimee Biggar and some of the team from Ayrshire-based travel agents LAH Travel also took on the walk. Doing so for Alzheimer's Scotland.

Robert Mcilvenna, Fiona Long, Victoria Frater, Scott Pettingale, Natalie Pettingale and Robert McMillan all took on the walk. They raised an impressive £1,055 for Irvine Rugby Club's juniors in doing so!
