AN AYRSHIRE group aimed at supporting those living with additional support needs (ASN) will be hosting a free open day next month.

ASN Support - Ayrshire have organised the event, which will take place at the Portal in Irvine from 12-3pm on Saturday, June 8, with the help of KA Leisure.

The event is open to all ages and attendees are able to come and go as they please.

There will be a whole host of activities on offer, as well as around a dozen organisations setting up stalls to provide useful information on the support they can provide.

KA Leisure have provided funding for two bouncy castles to be at the event while they will also be hosting a softplay/obstacle course, games and activity sessions and multi-sports events all suited to participants of all abilities.

Market stalls offering support and advice will also be set up at the event by: nest Ayrshire; ASN Support - Ayrshire; Stand; North Ayrshire Carers Gateway; Differabled Scotland; NAS North Ayrshire Branch; North Ayrshire Athletics Club; Spotty Zebras; North Ayrshire Family Wellbeing Service; Communication hub located within Lockhart Campus; Tribe Vibe and Oshays Brain Domain.

Of those hosting stalls, North Ayrshire's Carers Gateway will offer support to children who are the siblings of those with additional support needs, so bracelet making, colouring in and board games will also be available from this amazing service.

While Tribe Vibe will also be available to offer sessions within a quiet darkened space that includes mindfulness and meditation for everyone.

There is also state of the art facilities within the Portal's disabled toilets, these include overhead hoists and changing beds to accommodate all age groups.
