A partial closure of Stewarton Academy has been put in place following an issue with the school's fire alarm.
All pupils in S1, S2 and S3 were sent home at around 11.15am, but older pupils sitting SQA exams can remain in the building.
In a letter sent to parents, Head Teacher John Stuart said "operational issues with the automatic elements of the fire alarm panel" were to blame for the closure.
He added that an update on the reopening of the school tomorrow will be made as soon as possible.
