LOCALS in Kilwinning have urged caution after an 'attempted housebreaking' in the town.
A resident in the Pennyburn area of the town was left terrified following the alleged incident late on Monday, August 19, night.
One person shared their concerns as they claimed that two people made an effort to enter their home via a bedroom window.
They added that the pair were dressed in dark clothing and were "wearing ski masks" at the time.
The report was made from Dunure Courts, with further concerns raised that the residents of the area are of an older demographic.
"They will all be scared now," one concerned local added. "What a horrible situation to find yourself in.
"Stay safe, if know neighbours they can come round look out as well, you must be shaking."
Police Scotland have confirmed that they are aware of the alleged incident and enquiries are now ongoing.
A force spokesperson said: "Around 8.35pm on Monday, August 19, 2024 officers were called to reports of a attempted housebreaking in the Dunure Courts area of Kilwinning.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
