A MAN has died after being struck by a van on the A78 in Irvine.
The incident took place at around 12.25am on Friday, September 20, near to the Eglinton Interchange.
The 37-year-old man was struck by a Peugeot Partner van and after emergency services attended he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 49-year-old driver of the van was uninjured.
Police are now asking for anyone with more information to come forward as they look to establish the full circumstances of the crash.
Sergeant Brian Simpson, from the road policing unit at Irvine, said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. I would urge anyone who witnessed the crash or who has any information that may assist our enquiry to contact us.
“I would also ask anyone who was driving on the A78 around the time to review their footage and please contact us if it holds anything relevant."
