A BUSY Stewarton road has closed for the next six weeks to allow for Scottish Water works.

The utilities company is undertaking works on Springwell Place and Bridgend as part of its efforts to upgrade the sewerage system in the town.

A temporary road closure is now in place for Springwell Place and a section of Bridgend until 6pm on November 29.

It is expected that the road will be closed at all times, but access for residents, deliveries and pedestrians outwith the working zone will be maintained.

The days and times of the works may be dependent upon the weather conditions but the order will be implemented only when the appropriate signs are displayed.

Emergency services access will not be affected.

An alternative route will be signed via Bridgend - Vennel Street - Main Street - End and vice versa.
