A POPULAR Irvine bar looks set to re-open more than 18 months after the shutters came down on the venue.
The Crown Inn has been a fixture on the town's High Street for decades, and dates back as far as the 1800s.
Though the venue's more recent history has been rather clouded, having ceased trading on two occasions within the past five years.
First, in 2020, the boozer was closed after the former tenant relinquished the lease.
However, the bar was only closed for a brief period and returned to action just a few weeks later under new management.
But in April of last year, a more permanent move was made when boards and shutters went up at the Crown Inn after yet another tenant gave up their lease.
The venue was later listed for sale by then owners Admiral Taverns, and hopes of another speedy return were quashed.
At the time, the pub group stated that the pub "did not have a long-term sustainable future".
However, with a new team now in place, the venue is set to make a triumphant return to Irvine town centre.
A staff hunt has now been launched ahead of a planned re-opening date, which may come as an early Christmas present to many.
Announcing the planned comeback, new owners have set an anticipated launch date of Friday, December 20.
A spokesperson said: "This is not a drill. The Crown Inn is back.
"Massive amounts of work has been done in the past few months to bring the place back to life! We have some amazing plans in place."
While the team are also looking to recruit staff who would not only work at the new-look Crown Inn but also at other venues within North Ayrshire operated by the team coming in at the bar.
A spokesperson added: "We are looking for friendly, bubbly team players. Being punctual is a must!
"Must be willing to cover a variety of shifts for all roles. Previous bar work will not be essential as full training will be given.
"Please note you may be asked to work across a couple of locations. All within a 5 mile radius of each other with the same set up across all bars."
The roles advertised at present are for a bar supervisor, full and part-time bar staff and a cleaner.
Those looking to apply for a role are asked to send their CV to thecrownirvine@outlook.com.
