FIVE lucky Irvine youngsters are set to run out at Murrayfield with their rugby heroes next month.
It comes after Irvine Rugby Club were rewarded for their outstanding growth within the youth section with mascot places for Scotland's upcoming Six Nations clash against Ireland.
The sport's governing body granted four spots to the club to recognise their endeavours, with a further place made available after one of the youngsters from the club won a Christmas card competition run over the Glasgow South region.
Robert McIlvenna took on the role as Irvine's youth convenor around two years ago and has been delighted to see more kids becoming involved with the sport.
He commented: “Me and a couple of other people started on a journey to rebuild the youth section.
“We’ve taken participation from 20-odd kids to nearly 100 now across all the sections.
“It’s something that caught the eye of Scottish Rugby and last year I was named the volunteer of the year in youth rugby for Glasgow South.
“They then identified Irvine as a club with growth and have fired some resources at it. Off the back of that they have rewarded the club with four mascots for the Ireland game.”
The four mascot places were allocated via a random number generator, with Sofia Cleary, Kaiden McPherson, Ivan Long and Alfie Cooney the lucky youngsters who will lead out Scotland on February 9.
They will be joined by fellow Irvine youngster Jayden Mollins who won the Christmas card competition.
And as the buzz builds around the club, they are inviting more kids to get involved in their thriving youth section.
All are welcome to attend scheduled training session where they will be coached by fully qualified and PVG’d coaches.

Wednesdays 6 – 7pm @ the Portal, Irvine (KA Leisure Partnership)
