THE new Irvine Community Council events committee has hit the ground running since it was established back in January.
And it has lined up some big plans for community events in the town for the year ahead.
Subject to funding applications, the group is hoping to bring a European-style market to Bridgegate as well as organise a day of free family activities at Irvine Harbourside.
The group was set up following a successful public meeting in a bid to help boost the profile of the group.
The idea is to organise events for the whole community in summer as well as a major festive event for Irvine this year
The group is chaired by Irvine woman and fitness coach Danielle McLaughlan, and the team has been hard at work since its first meeting.
The community council held a hugely successful festive event for Christmas 2023 but a lack of numbers meant they were unable to repeat this last Christmas.
Instead, members supported a parade to Harbourside from Cunninghame House and a Christmas lights show and market at the Scottish Maritime Museum.
