EXTRA police patrols will be in place across Ayrshire this summer to keep locals and visitors safe.

The Safer Shores initiative is a multi-agency partnership set up to ensure that everyone who visits the Ayrshire coast during 'beach season' gets there safely, has a fantastic visitor experience, and continues to come back and enjoy all that the coast has to offer.

Partners include Police Scotland, British Transport Police, NHS Ayrshire and Arran, Scottish Ambulance Service, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Coastwatch, Coastguard, ScotRail, local councils and more.

The initiative supports ScotRail and the British Transport Police on the ban on alcohol consumption on trains.

There will be extra Police Scotland and British Transport Police patrols during Safer Shores to ensure everyone can have a safe and enjoyable day out in Ayrshire.
