A FREE interactive game is launching in Irvine to encourage community engagement and active travel.
Beat the Street will run from Wednesday, September 24 to Wednesday, November 5.
The game, which has already been played by more than 2,000 people in other North Ayrshire locations this year, involves participants walking, cycling, or wheeling as far as possible over six weeks.
The aim is to help people make small lifestyle changes and increase physical activity while reducing congestion and improving air quality.
In addition, there will be a range of prizes up for grabs for those teams that record the furthest distance, including vouchers for books and sports equipment.
Councillor Tony Gurney, cabinet member for green environment and economy, said: "We are incredibly excited to be bringing Beat the Street to Irvine having seen the positive effects after the previous games in North Ayrshire across the Garnock Valley, North Coast, Isle of Cumbrae, and the Isle of Arran.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for Irvine residents to explore their town, enjoy the outdoors, and improve their wellbeing."
Participating primary schools will supply each child with a card and map, and a card for an accompanying adult.

The wider community can collect a free card from one of the distribution points listed on the Beat the Street Irvine website.
Players aged over 13 can use the free Beat the Street app.
Once the game starts, participants will hover their card over one of the approximately 50 Beat Boxes that will appear on lampposts around Irvine shortly before the game, which will record their points.
