AN Irvine composer and musician has signed an ongoing deal with the world’s most iconic chillout and ambient music label.
Joe Hume, originally from the Irvine Harbour area, will be issuing a series of solo piano reworks of Café del Mar’s best-selling music catalogue.
The label helped to pioneer the Ibiza chillout sound and has worked with major artists such as Moby, Chicane, Groove Armada and Underworld..
Joe, who now lives in Glasgow, said: "One of my pieces was recently featured on their 45th anniversary compilation and latest annual compilation.
"I’ll continue releasing music through their label alongside my own solo work.
"It’s been a personal milestone I’ve kept to myself mostly but on reflection it’s definitely something I would hope can inspire other musicians from our area, where opportunities in music are often limited."
Joe attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music at the age of 17 where he studied the piano.
His eclectic taste in music (classical, electronic, movie scores) would later take him to the University of the West of Scotland where he studied studio engineering and production.
Since then he has enjoys a busy performing career. He has played at most of the UK’s top venues as a session musician, most notably the Cavern Club in Liverpool and the O2 Arena in London.
One contract took him to St. Germain in Paris where he wrote his recent album of piano works.
Joe's ability to compose ambient piano music led to significant success in 2019. His track Adagio For Piano was released by Café Del Mar on their annual compilation album xxv.
Look out for future releases from him on the label.
