A FORMER Irvine church has been listed for sale more than five years after it was taken out of use.
The Church of Scotland has brought the old St Andrews building and adjacent hall onto the property market, asking for offers over £245,000.
The premises, on Elmbank Terrace, originally closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, when other churches were able to welcome worshippers once again, St Andrews remained closed due to health and safety issues.
The Episcopal parishioners at St Andrews then moved to a sister church in Ardrossan while Church of Scotland worshippers relocated to Girdle Toll.
In the years since then, concerns have also been raised around anti-social behaviour and attempted break-ins at the venue.
Now, the Church of Scotland is looking to sell the building which remains connected to gas, electricity and water.
In a listing published on its website, it is stated that the building could be used as a crèche, day nursery, day centre, educational establishment, museum, art gallery or public library, without the need for planning consent.
However, it is added that any prospective buyer could also utilise the building in other ways by obtaining permission.
Those suggested by the Church of Scotland include a "theatre, cinema or entertainment venue, retail space or community resource".
