The proposals for 129 High Street have been brought to North Ayrshire Council this week.
Applicant Lawrence DeMarco is seeking the change the use of the rear section of the building to form the dwelling.
If approved, this would allow for the creation of a two-bedroomed property which would also contain a bathroom and open plan living space/kitchen.
An outdoor garden, including drying space, would also be added to the front of the property - in the area which backs out towards the West Road car park.
Beyond this, planning documents show that the front section of the premises, which opens up onto High Street, would be maintained as retail space.
The unit was most recently occupied by Istanbul Kebab which closed suddenly in March following around 14 months in operation.
Plans were brought forward to North Ayrshire Council this week and are currently pending consideration.
It is anticipated that a decision will be made on proposals at the beginning of February next year.
