AFTER a year of fallow on the Shoes Brothers’ Christmas song and dance front, and in the wake of Fr Willie’s move to another parish, we have a ‘Min in Black’ (short for ‘ministers in black’) collaboration with Greenwood Academy and Loudoun Montgomery Primary School.
A call to consistent ‘Kindness’ and the banishing of hate for good, the ‘Colours of Kindness’ song is available on Spotify, iTunes (The Shoes Brothers - TSB), etc and the short film on Fullonart YouTube Channel and TSB Dance Facebook.
It’s the fruit of excellent relations between school and chaplaincy team. Heads at Greenwood reached out to offer help to do something this Advent, aware that we’d not been able to do something last year.
Teachers shared that what troubles them more than insubordination is how cruel pupils can be with each other in school.
Keyboard warriors now feel able to say the cruel things they used to only text and message online, in person face to face.
So, our message is loud and clear, that if you can be anything in life, choose to ‘be kind’.
The Christmas Story is about God’s Kindness revealed in Christ, born to show us God’s compassion and kindness in the way he lived, died, rose again, and shared and showed what God is like.

Faculty Leader in Performance and Design Alyson Rogers was an absolute star in coordinating and producing the song and short film, which includes messages and classroom cameos of kindness to back up the song’s theme and lyrics.
Loudoun Montgomery Primary School responded to an invitation to sing and demonstrate part of the song in dance, “Limping with love, hopping with hope, flying with faith”. With wonderful enthusiasm they also star in the film.
Depute Greenwood Head Chris Neil said: “We’re delighted to be involved with ‘Colours of Kindness’ being released. It’s a great way to spread cheer at this time of year!”
Min in Black Rev Neil Urquhart said: “I fair miss my sidekick Fr Willie, but am delighted to keep the Christmas song and dance tradition going with ‘Colours of Kindness’.
Such is the enthusiasm with which teachers and pupils in our local schools’ assemblies have received our Shoes Brothers’ and Min in Black Christmas songs and dances, Greenwood Academy wanted to help us continue the tradition.
The net result is tremendous tribute to the school’s commitment to community relations, a demonstration of a wealth of talent and example of ‘Kindness’, one of Greenwood’s visionary values!
The song has been taken up by Irvine Beat Radio to play regularly each day in the run up to Christmas and the banner on the Fullarton Hall, overlooking Marress Roundabout, at Fullarton ConneXions echoes the song’s message “Colours of Kindness, Wear with Love!” ENJOY!
