AN award‑winning independent bookshop has opened its doors after relocating to Stewarton Library.
The Book Nook has moved to a new space within the library at the Stewarton Area Centre, as part of an innovative partnership with East Ayrshire Leisure.
The library is now home to a dedicated shop area set in the location of the former Learning Centre, which will be used as an engagement zone for small groups and events, while larger events will be hosted in Stewarton Area Centre’s main hall.
The new space opened to the public on Tuesday, March 3.
The Book Nook, a staple of Stewarton’s High Street for more than three years, agreed to the move as part of an innovative partnership with East Ayrshire Leisure.
Both organisations describe maintaining a commitment to "enriching lives through culture, learning and reader development".
The shop and the library already had aligned programmes, including story times, book clubs, and author visits aimed at expanding the reach of reading, especially to younger people.
The Book Nook’s location within the Stewarton Area Centre looks set to enhance the number of options available for children's free time.
