The owner of the land at 13 Cutstraw Road has proposed turning part of his private garden into a plot for constructing the detached property.
The application, submitted to East Ayrshire Council, outlines plans for a 424 square-metre area.
This plot would be separated from the existing property, and would require new access from a public road.
The owner has stated in his application, made through DACAS Design, that he considers the garden space to be "surplus to the requirements of the existing house."
He adds development of the area would better serve the community's housing needs.
In the application, he has not indicated any pre-application discussions with the relevant planning authority.
Currently, there are no signs that work has begun on the project.
The submission also mentions alterations to existing utility connections; the new home would be linked to the public water and drainage networks but would not implement any sustainable drainage of surface water (SUDS).
