FILM fans across Ayrshire can look forward to a packed week of big releases, sequels and family favourites at both Ayr’s Astoria Cinema and ODEON Kilmarnock.

Many of the same headline titles feature across both venues, including The Devil Wears Prada 2, Mortal Kombat II and Michael, alongside lighter options and event screenings.

While Ayr offers a more compact programme with a focus on key releases, Kilmarnock’s larger multiplex expands the choice with additional films, special screenings and family titles.

Ayr’s Astoria Cinema is screening a streamlined selection of major releases and special events across the week.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 (12A)

The fashion world sequel sees Miranda Priestly battling a former assistant turned rival executive in a changing media landscape. A sharp, character-driven follow-up to the original hit.

Michael (12A)

A biopic charting Michael Jackson’s rise to global superstardom, exploring both his on-stage brilliance and personal life.

Mortal Kombat II (15)

The action sequel brings back iconic fighters as they face off against dark forces threatening Earthrealm, with high-energy combat and spectacle.

The Sheep Detectives (PG)

A quirky family mystery in which a flock of sheep attempt to solve their shepherd’s murder, inspired by the crime stories he once read to them.

Frida Kahlo – Exhibition on Screen

A special one-off documentary-style screening exploring the life and art of Frida Kahlo through major exhibitions and expert insight.

Ayr focuses on a core rotating programme, with most films showing once or twice daily rather than the larger multiplex-style schedule.

A family-friendly comedy mystery and one of the most accessible films on the programme.

Obsession (18)

A darker thriller option following a man whose wish for love spirals into dangerous consequences.

Project Hail Mary (12A)

A sci-fi adventure about a lone astronaut tasked with saving Earth, blending humour, science and high-stakes storytelling.

The Mandalorian & Grogu (12A)

The popular Star Wars spin-off heads to the big screen, following the bounty hunter and his young companion on a new mission.
