CHOOSE Kilwinning has launched a crowdfunding campaign to ensure key events like the Segdoune Gala and the festive lights switch-on continue in the town.

The organisation has urged locals to support the campaign, just ahead of next year' 80th anniversary of the Segdoune Gala.

A spokesperson for the community group said: "The aim of this project is simply to continue to bring the community together at events like the Segdoune Crowning and Christmas lights.

"Choose Kilwinning is built by members of our town, people who care about traditions and keeping them alive and thriving.

"We truly believe that our town has a lot to offer. Having these events doesn't just bring people together it allows groups to get there message out to the people.

"Do we have a lot of plans? Yes. Bringing back the original Christmas lights, having entertainment, bringing Santa back to the main street and joining the parade down our main street - all this is great but costs money we simply do not have.

"If you can spare 50p, please help make Kilwinning great.

"Next year we will be celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Segdoune Gala. To plan and event this great would be a joy for the town to remember for many years to come."
