A WOMAN was more than four times the legal limit when she collided with an oncoming vehicle, a court has heard.
Rona MacMillan previously admitted to driving with 94mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The limit is just 22mg.
The 55-year-old was driving on March 15 on the opposite side of the road on Jubilee Drive in Stewarton when she collided with the other vehicle.
Kilmarnock Sheriff Court was told by MacMillan's defence solicitor on Monday, June 15 that "alcohol had become a maladaptive coping strategy".
He added that social workers had "some reservation as to whether she's ready" to address changes.
Sheriff Morag Fraser said it was a "serious matter" and banned MacMillan, of Victoria Court in Stewarton, from driving for 16 months.
She also imposed one year of social work supervision, including taking alcohol treatment.
"It's not an optional thing, it's a requirement of the order," she added.
The sentence is a direct alternative to custody.
