DRIVERS were stopped and spoken to during a police operation aimed at improving road safety around horses.
Sixteen motorists were pulled over and educated about how to pass horses safely on the road during Operation Lose the Blinkers, which took place near Dundonald in Ayrshire.
The initiative is a partnership between Police Scotland’s Mounted and Road Policing Units and BHS Scotland.
It focuses on encouraging drivers to slow down to 10mph, pass wide and slow, and allow at least two metres when overtaking horses.
Nine drivers were commended for their safe driving during the operation.
The operation is supported by Scottish Ministers and Transport Scotland. Muirmill Equestrian Centre provided parking for the day.
