Apple has released a new update for iPhone users with the latest models.

If you’re having trouble charging your device, the update may help you solve this issue.

Among the Apple products affected by the issue are the iPhone 17 range and the iPhone Air.

The US tech giant explained: “This update addresses an issue for a small number of users that may prevent wired charging on iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models when the battery is nearly drained.”

How to update to 26.5.1 on iPhone 17 and iPhone Air

To get the update, you’ll need to head to your iPhone’s settings and click General, then Software Update.

Your device will do a quick check for any available updates, and if you haven’t already, you’ll see the option to update to 26.5.1.

Click Update Now to start the update on your device – you can choose to do it now or schedule it for the evening.

Apple explains that battery life could be affected by updates: “Immediately after completing an update, particularly a major release, you may notice a temporary impact on battery life and thermal performance.

“This is normal, as your device needs time to complete the setup process in the background, including indexing data and files for search, downloading new assets and updating apps.

“New features are exciting and help you get even more out of your Apple product, although some may require additional resources from the device.

“Depending on individual usage, some users may notice a small impact on performance and/or battery life.

“Apple works continually to optimise these features in software updates to ensure great battery life and a smooth user experience.”
