FRUSTRATED Irvine Vics boss Stevie Wilson hit out after his side had a goal disallowed in Saturday's home 1-1 draw against Whitletts Victoria.

Sean Mears netted for the Irvine team just before the interval, but the effort was chalked off for offside - much to the astonishment of the boss.

Wilson said: "Sean was clearly onside, I showed the referee a video clip of it later and he admitted he got it wrong. The goal should have stood. I feel that was a turning point in the game. Had we gone 2-0 ahead I don't think Whitletts would have come back, I feel we would have won the game."

However the manager admitted his side could have played better and said: "I would say we had most of the play but didn't take our chances and were not clinical enough. Whitletts are not a bad side but I think we should have won the game."

The Westenders head east on Saturday as they face Muirkirk at Burnside Park.

But Wilson is warning it will be no easy task and said: "When we played them in January we had to work really hard for our three goals and I'm sure it will be another tough game. But we must go and take the three points."
