ANNBANK UNITED 0

IRVINE VICTORIA 5

RAMPANT Vics put five past Annbank to move three points clear at the top of the table.

Bankies were short at the back due to the absence of Kirkwood, Barrett and Hainey so they started with Euan Smith on the left and Andy Stevenson in the middle.

Jordan Drummond also made a return from injury. The match was only four minutes old when Irvine Vics took the lead, a corner was floated into the box and George Bonner rose up to head home. Straight from the kick off the Bankies went on the attack and a swift move resulted in them having a good penalty shout overlooked by the referee.

Vics blasted a shot over the bar in six minutes as both teams adjusted to the heavy pitch. James Hart was forced into a save from a driven shot and up the other end a Dillan Dunn free-kick narrowly dropped over the bar. In 32 minutes Vics looked to be 2-0 up as their striker fired past Hart but Drummond got back to clear over the bar.

Only a few minutes later it was 2-0 as David Adams was played through and saw his initial effort saved by Hart but from the rebound he converted despite the keeper getting a hand on the ball. Up the other end and a Ryan McCubbin shot was spilled by Chris Lamb but as Chris Stewart looked to get on it the Vics keeper reclaimed the ball, a Stewart effort towards the end of the half went over the bar. In 33 minutes the Bankies had a good chance to get back into it as a ball in was lined up nicely for Dillan Dunn but McCubbin got there first and shot wide.

A few minutes into the second half and the Vics looked to have scored again as a shot was thundered off the underside of the bar but bounced away from the line, the ball fell to a

free player but his flick cleared the ball rather than converting the chance. A Dunn angled drive was well held by Lamb and then the Vics blazed an effort over the bar.

In 57 minute it was 3-0 when a clearance out by Bankies fell straight to a Vics player who wiggled his way into the box before squaring for David Adams to tap home. The Bankies heads still didn't drop as they looked to get one back but McCubbin's shot was easily held. Vics had a couple of efforts over the bar as they looked to see the game out with another. It came in 79 minutes, as they broke on the left. Eddie Ablorh lifted the ball into the box for Kenny Parris to tap home. With five minutes to play it was 5-0 as a cross from the left was met by Kevin Adam who beat Hart.

Vics deserved their win. While a disappointing afternoon for us but positives to take, McCubbin fitted in nicely in midfield and Euan Smith had a cracking game on the left.
