UPBEAT Irvine Vics boss Brian McLuckie saluted his team as they snapped a six-game losing streak.
The Westenders defeated Girvan 3-2 at Hamilton Park and the manager can take a lot of positives.
He said: "We drew 4-4 with Kilwinning Rangers in a friendly last Monday and that was a good display. We played well at Girvan and it was good to see James Maxwell get his first goal for the club and it was a great winner from Ryan Singleton.
"This was an important win as we have do well against the teams around us."
Vics on Saturday host St Roch's in a Scottish Junior Cup second round tie and McLuckie said: "The league is the priority, but it will be a test against a Premier Division team."
Meanwhile Kilwinning Rangers last week signed former Killie defender David Syme from Troon FC.
Buffs on Saturday lost 2-0 at home to Pollok, all but ending anyh hopes of a title challenge
This weekend sees them host Premier Division champions Beith in an all-North Ayrshire tie.
Victory is vital to keep their season going.
