NORTH Ayrshire Athletics Club seniors have had a very busy couple of weeks with several members taking part in a variety of races.

Last weekend was the Great Scottish Half Marathon in Glasgow and four members ran some pretty strong races with newest recruit, Vicky Pincombe completing it in a remarkable time of 1:22:02, followed by Ian McIlwraith and his Personal Best of 1:23:58, Mark Preston 1:29 and Debbie Neal at just over the two-hour mark. Excellent performances from all on the day.

Another half marathon event on Sunday saw Ian Rutherford completing his 2nd of 2018 at the Neil McCover Memorial Half in Kirkintilloch in 1:58:31. A tough event with a great personal result for Ian.

In the ROC Mountain Marathon, North Lakes two-dfay day event. Alasdair McCallum and Tommy Begley were winners in the Vets category, first pair and second overall in the British Mountain Marathon championships by a point!

Both weekends hosted Ultra races in different parts of Scotland with the Ochil 50 miler from Stirling to Perth and the Wee Eck Dunoon 55k which Angela Reid took part in and succeeded in bringing home First Lady in both with times of 9:34 and 5:02 consecutively.

Next weekend sees the start of Cross Country events, beginning with the West District Relays at Irvine Beach Park.

NAAC Seniors training nights are Tuesday track sessions, at 6pm and Thursdays , at 6pm for hill reps/Fartlek or varied sessions. The club are always looking for new members to come along and join us and are a club for all abilities and variety of running interests from short speedwork to hills and Ultra running.
