IRVINE VICTORIA 3

KILSYTH RANGERS 1

IMPRESSIVE Irvine Vics moved out of the bottom four with a hard-fought victory against a Kilsyth team who had sent derby rivals Irvine Meadow crashing out of the Scottish Junior Cup.

The win takes Brian McLuckie's side up to fifth bottom spot in their battle for survival in their first season back in the second tier.

They came close in eight minutes with a Hamish McKinlay free-kick.

However in 22 minutes they went ahead with a well-worked goal from Ross McKenzie.

The Westenders doubled their tally four minutes later through a strike from former Ardeer Thistle player Ryan Morrow.

Then in 34 minutes it was three and easy as McKinlay netted.

Five minutes after the break, home goalie Martin McDonald made a great save to foil the visitors.

Rangers did score in 57 minutes, however Vics easily saw the game out.

IRVINE VICTORIA: McDonald; Craig, Holden, Adam, Farrell, Smith, Loughlin, McKenzie, Morrow, McKinlay, Paterson.
