IRVINE MEADOW 3
RENFREW 0

FORM team Meadow completed a landmark win against Renfrew on Saturday.
It was the first time they had defeated the visiting team in 50 years and was sweet revenge for their heavy defeat at New Western Park earlier in the season.
Brian McGinty’s side have now remarkably chalked up eight wins out of nine in their best run of the season so far and it has been a remarkable turnaround for a side many were tipping for relegation late last year.
The home side began well and took the lead with a fine header from defensive stalwart Calum Gow.
They then doubled their advantage with a glorious goal from skipper Ben Carson, who sent a 25-yard half volley right into the top corner of the net.
The hosts were well in command and Renfrew had no answer. Gow then powerfully headed home to make it 3-0.
Home striker Brendan Sharpe was then sent off for making an apparent gesture after the third goal.
Next up is a home clash with Cumnock, which Brian McGinty’s team can certainly go into it with confidence.
