West Region Sectional League Cup
IRVINE MEADOW 5
CRAIGMARK 1
FOUR-goal Darren Jones helped Meadow get off to a flyer as they crushed Craigmark in the league cup opener on Saturday.
They began well and went ahead early on when Jones netted from close range after a Darren Miller header. Medda then doubled their tally when Roddy Paterson sent a cross on to the head of Jones for the second.
Jones completed his hat-trick with an excellent composed finished past the goalie after another assist from Miller.
Before the break, the visiting number 11 sent an excellent free-kick into the top corner of the net from 25 yards.
Into the second half and Callum Gow slotted home from close range with a third assist from Miller’s head. The impressive Jones then notched his fourth goal of the afternoon.
This time Eddie McTernan made a good interception and crossed in for Jones to score from close range.
After taking on Troon away on Monday after we went to press, Meadow face a derby clash away to Irvine Victoria in the final sectional match tomorrow (Wednesday).
