Irvine football star Erin Cuthbert has signed a new three-year contract with Chelsea.

The new deal will see the former Greenwood Academy pupil stay at the Blues until 2023.

The 22-year-old Scotland international joined Chelsea from Glasgow City in December 2016 and has made almost 100 appearances for the club helping them to secure five trophies in that period.

Speaking after signing the contract extension, Cuthbert, said: "It means so much to me, I’ve been here three-and-a-half years now and this club feels like home to me. I can’t imagine myself anywhere else and I’m just happy to get the deal over the line.

"I think I’ve developed so much, even when I came in I think I was miles off the pace and I’m first to admit that. I think it’s shown in my game, I feel like I’ve really grown and developed and I feel like I’ve got so much more to give here.

"I’ve had so many incredible moments, I think the first year winning the double was special for me but the FA Cup final at Wembley was an incredible moment just because I had my family there. My mum said it was one of the best days of her life and for me to have that important impact for my mum is really special."
