Ayrshire Hammermen took to the court a fortnight ago to kick off their Ball Hockey UK Scottish Conference season at the Manhattan Works in Dundee.

The Hammermen faced two opponents on the opening day of 21/22 Scottish Conference in the Clyde Clansmen and Tayside Thunder.

It was a game against the Clyde for the opener and the Ayrshire side got off to a flier winning 9-4.

With only four recognised forward players available for the game the club took a quick lead through Jamie Donlon who drove the ball high into the corner with a quick pass from behind the net from Jamie Wilson.

Wilson then followed up his assist with his own goal to make it 2-0 with a slap shot from the blue line.

Clansmen drew back level making it 2-2, however Wilson and Donlan combined for four goals and three assists between them to make the game 6-3.

Dan Urban then scored through an assist from Amanda Murdoch followed by a goal and assist each from Wilson and Donlan for the game to finish 9-4.

The second game of the day saw the Hammermen take on the league runners up for the last three seasons in Tayside Thunder, with this fixture always going to be tough with a great ball moving team,

Tayside took a 2-0 lead but a mistake from the Tayside goalie allowed Wilson to fire into an open net.

However, after that error Tayside quickly scored three more to make the game 5-1.

Ayrshire came into the third period determined to change things around and traded a goal for goal with Tayside.

They got their second goal through another pass from behind the net from Hogan Kerr to Donlon who shot up over the keeper and into the net making it 5-2.

Ayrshire made the game 5-3 pretty quickly when Wilson passed the ball to the front of the net and Kara Murdoch netted going through the goalies legs.

However, the game ended 6-3 to Tayside after they scored another goal shortly after closing the game off.

Hammermen picked up two points from the four available on the day to sit in fourth and look to their next game day on December 5.
